North Carolina Wardens Find 26 Dead Deer in Poaching Investigation

PINETOPS, N.C. — When a tip led wildlife officers to a home in Pinetops Sunday morning, they could not believe what they found - 26 dead deer.

"The deer were in various states of decay," said Lt. Sam Craft, with North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. "Some were just the heads with the antlers, and others were whole deer left to lie in the field."

Sixteen heads, mostly of bucks, were found in the yard. Ten additional deer were found in various fields across the county.

Rick Olson Named New Chief of Law Enforcement at Utah Division of Wildlife

As of January 1, 20106, Rick Olson, Cohort 1 Leadership Academy Graduate, has been promoted to Chief of Law Enforcement at the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.  Rick was formerly a Captain with Utah DWR.  Rick is the 7th Cohort 1 Graduate to be promoted to Chief.

Rick replaces former Utah Chief Tony Wood who retired at the end of 2015.

Rodman Smith Named Colonel for Minnesota DNR Enforcement Division

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced today that Lt. Col. Rodmen Smith, assistant director and 19-year veteran of the department, will be the next director of the agency’s Enforcement Division.

Rodman was a 2014 Graduate of the NACLEC Leadership Academy.   Rodman is the sixth member of the 2014 NACLEC Leadership Academy class to be appointed as an agency Law Enforcement Director since graduating the academy.
